The Lions Roar...serious and fun information from the Westerly Lions Club

A world of wine and food
November 20th, 2008 8:23 AM
An elegant evening was enjoyed by the members and guests of our Lion's Club on Thursday evening--May8th --at the Olympia Tea Room in Historic Watch Hill,Rhode Island.
On one of the first spectacular evenings of the season, over 65 people were treated to a unique array of white and red wines, foods from Cavier to Pork Tenderloins and the company of friends and new acquaintences.

The evening began with a lesson in wine from Jack, Olympia Tea Room owner, on the histories of some of the New World wines, what each wine went best with, and what is happening on the world wide wine scene.

"Great local Food-Good International Wine" and Good Club fellowship was the highlight of the evening for all -said Our Chairman Joe Iacoi of the first ever Club Wine Tasting event .

Webmaster note: I am not sure why, but this never got posted to the  blog, so as they say, better late than never>

Gary also presented a plaque to Sean for his service as president.

Reports on the service provided by the Westerly Lions at the Westerly Band Breakfast, the work on the greenhouse at the Olean center, White Cane day, the combined Lions, Elks and Rotary spaghetti dinner for the Jonnycake center heating assistance fund, the Lions donation to the fund, the upcoming Childrens Xmas party, Theater night at the Granite Theater and URI Basketball  night.
